Homecoming 2007 vs. Purdue Boilermakers

Today is homecoming - always a special game no matter the opponent. Today we have the Boilermakers of Purdue who come off of a rather embarrassing loss at the hands of tosu, at home. Last week's game was a battle of the unbeatens with Purdue on the losing end of a good old fashioned beat down. As a team with difficulty defending against a spread offense, we were unsure of what to expect. The team came out ready to play and with a bad attitude as well.

The morning started out as usual, though when we were on the expressway headed to A2, we were told that there were motorhomes taking over our parking space. We told Kevin we were on our way and to get us some spaces. Much obliged, Kevin and Matt, much obliged! Upon our arrival, Craig also pointed out that we had some people in our area (we don't have "assigned" spaces, per se, but we all take the same spots weekly.) Our "newbies" were tucked up all snug in their motor homes not emerging until around 10am. Now, we try to be hospitable to others, but one of the new people came up to us saying that the women were offended that we were going to the bathroom at the front of the car. Hmmm....one of two things can happen. 1. Don't look. 2. Look and enjoy. I wonder if they'd be offended when the ladies drop trou also......
Anyhoo, our newbie felt the need to point out that public urination is "illegal." No shit, Sherlock. So is public drinking, but we're all doing it. What a bunch of assholes. Yes, I said it, assholes. You come into the area for the first damn game this year and you have the nerve to tell us what we can and cannot do? I think not. Go ahead and call the police - but since we're on University property, make sure you call the right police - those that work for the U. If I were a guy I would have tried to pee on their motorhome. Bunch of jerks. Don't come back, ya' hear? Wonder how they'll like the "Call to Jager" when I throw it out next game for Dennis to come for a drink. It is loud and fairly obnoxious - but effective =) Or when Chris rejoins us for his first game back from serving in Iraq? That tailgate will be OFF THE HOOK. We're hoping for the tosu game, but we'll see what the Army says about that! Have I said how much I don't like the new people?
Assholes.

Anyway, off my soapbox. The game went well - we came, we saw and we kicked ass. Hart went down late in the first half to not return for the second. We were up by 28 at the half (I think, it was a long time ago) so his return wasn't necessary. Mallet got some playing time in the second half - looking good my boy, looking good. (Have I mentioned how much I LOOOVE Mallet?)

Today looks to be another day of upsets - LSU has lost to Kentucky which, depending on the Cal game could propel tosu into the #2 spot. We'll see. I hate to see it, they get obnoxious when they're winning. Although they played Sister Mary's School for the Challenged (Kent St.) - more like a practice session, they may not get any style points for beating up on them. The BCS rankings come out this week - we'll see.

We head to Illinois next week - they beat Wisconsin last week and lost today to Iowa. What type of team will we face? Will we be ready for them? I'll let you know next week. In the meantime, Hail To The Victors! and Go Blue!!!
